It could be getting more convenient to travel from local airports. On Thursday, Southern Airways, the regional carrier for airports in Altoona, DuBois, and Johnstown announced a new partnership with American Airlines.
The interline agreement will allow passengers to book seamless travel from DuBois, Johnstown, and Altoona to any of American’s destinations across the globe, according to Southern Airways Chief Marketing Officer Keith Sisson.
He says that means a single check in at the local airport for the entire trip and checked luggage that’s delivered all the way to the final destination.
DuBois Regional Airport Manager Bob Shaffer is excited about the change. He says,” That’s what everybody’s looking for. That’s huge for us and to be able to make this announcement today is just a great boon for the area.”
Shaffer predicts that the new agreement will mean more passengers for local airports served by Southern Airways.
Sisson says American Airlines offers more connections from both the Pittsburgh And Baltimore International Airports than any of the other larger airlines..
You can now buy the interlined tickets from local travel agents, American Airlines or online at travel websites.
