Attorney General Josh Shapiro and Johnstown Police addressed the public about the opioid epidemic at their Coffee with Cops event.
A major concern for many residents Tuesday evening was the drug crisis in the region.
In Cambria County alone, the number of overdose deaths has increased 62 percent since 2016.
The relapse rate for opioid addicts is currently at 90 percent.
On a county level, healthcare and law enforcement leaders formed the Cambria County Drug Coalition.
Statewide, prosecutors are using laws to put drug dealers behind bars, particularly the charge “Drug Delivery Resulting in Death.”
They’re also using legislation to help addicts gets treatment.
