Annual Relay for Life in Blair County is approaching

Local News

ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — The Blair County Relay for Life is coming to Mansion Park in Altoona for its huge 24-hour fundraiser/awareness event starting June 14, 2019.

The Relay is a 24-hour long event where teams gather after months of fundraising to raise awareness and honor survivors by walking around the Mansion Park track for 24 hours.

The idea is that Cancer patients don’t stop because they’re tired, they fight on. Each team will need to have a member on the track at all times, whether one member or multiple team members.

The event is open to the community, especially during the luminaria that takes place around dusk. Candles line and fill the field in remembrance of a loved one fighting, or lost to cancer as well as our survivors.

If you don’t have a team, don’t worry! You are encouraged to stop by, check out the themed team tents, walk a few laps. There are also tents of teams and businesses that will be selling items with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society and their Relay for Life team.

Come celebrate the survivors on June 14-June15. The event is from 11 a.m. to 11 a.m.
