State College, Pa- Those looking to fly out of State College will soon have more options.
The university park airport has already offered direct flights to Chicago through United Airlines… but now another airline, American Airlines will eventually offer two more flights a day to the windy city.
The flights will be on 50-seat regional jets for American Airlines, who previously had to fly guests on a layover flight in Philadelphia to get to Chicago.
The airport says beyond adding competition, which could drive prices down, the new flight’s goal will be to save time.
“American recognized that their customers really didn’t like to fly east to go west… that’s a big factor,
plus they wanted to have a second city at their regional airport that they were providing service for,” said James Meyer, Executive Director of the Centre County Airport Authority.
American’s flight service to Chicago will begin April, 2 in 2019.
