Esports in the time of COVID-19

LORETTO, CAMBRIA Co., Pa. (WTAJ) — In this time of staying at home, why not hone in on your video gaming skills? Esports is a growing industry with college and universities starting teams and even offering scholarships.

St. Francis Head Coach Luke Trotz spoke with our Tony Maiocco about ESports at the school. Trotz says the Coronavirus Pandemic is even impacted Esports. He explains, “Unfortunately, our formal organized conference competitions were canceled for the remainder of the school year. However, the Eastern College Athletic Conference, or the ECAC, replaced those formal competitions with open play tournaments that any college student can sign up for.”
