Dancing to beat a world record

News

A new Guinness world record for the largest number of partners dancing merengue was set this past Sunday.

According to Guinness, more than 420 partners danced for over 5 minutes to break the record previously held by Russia.

Merengue has its origins in the Dominican Republic during the 19th century.

In 2016, traditional Dominican merengue music and dance was declared an intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
