Crash closes Route 56 behind Point Stadium, Johnstown

UPDATE: 1:45 p.m. — Chief Robert Statler of the Johnstown Fire Department confirms that the accident happened just before Noon.

The coal truck was carrying fly ash from a nearby powerplant and the driver was not injured.

He said they hope to have the road reopen by 4 or 5 p.m. but that time is not set in stone.


JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — Dispatch has alerted drivers that Route 56 Eastbound will be closed for an extended amount of time behind Point Stadium.

They report a coal truck has crashed and there are fluids on the roadway.

The alert came out at 12:01 p.m. and officials are asking all drivers to avoid the area.
