A new partnership is helping Centre County families stretch their clothing budgets.
Mount Nittany Middle School and Mount Nittany Elementary School are pairing up to hold a clothing drive to collect gently used clothes, coats and shoes.
The event, which will be hosted in the middle school cafeteria, kicks off Friday and runs throughout the weekend, for the first time campus-wide.
“We think it’s a really nice way for our families to give some clothes they’re not using… some hats, some shoes… a nice way for us to also serve our community,” Alex Raup, the assistant principal at Mount Nittany Middle School, said.
Donations will be accepted from 3:30 to 6 p.m., Friday and 8 to 10 a.m., Saturday.
Volunteers will then sort and fold items in preparation for families, who can shop for free apparel at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and noon to 3 p.m., Sunday.
All remaining items will be donated to Goodwill and in return, Goodwill will make a monetary donation to each school.
