Cavern closing causing confusion

News
A cavern in Huntingdon County slated to close later this year is causing confusion for tourists, as they mix it up with another nearby cavern that’s still in business.

Lincoln Caverns along Route 22 has experienced a less-than-normal summer, according to President and General Manager Ann Dunlavy.

Numerous calls and online messages, asking when Lincoln Caverns will close to the public has been a ‘frustration’ process.

Many people are confusing Lincoln Caverns with Indian Caverns, another Huntingdon County attraction.

Located in Spruce Creek, Indian Caverns is in the process of being sold to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy.

It plans to stop operations in October.

As for Lincoln Caverns, Dunlavy says her family business is here to stay.

“We are not closing, we are live and well and want to continue to improve and continue what we’re doing for a long time to come,” Dunlavy said.

Lincoln Caverns is open everyday, rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
