Pregnant woman accused of shoplifting

The office supply chain store, Staples is now apologizing after a manager accused a pregnant woman of shoplifting items under her shirt.

Sherell Bates was shopping for school supplies and about to check out when a police officer approached her and asked what she had underneath her shirt. Bates says,”Initially, I thought he was joking, so my response was, ‘Twins,'” Bates said. “I’m 34 weeks with twins. I’m having a boy and a girl.”

The expectant mother, says because of the accusation she felt compelled to lift up her blouse to reveal that she was in fact pregnant. She says, “no mom should have to go through that.”
