A local video store is closing.
Silverscreen Video in Tyrone has been part of the community since 2003. Despite a loyal customer base, owner Lori Martin, says internet-streaming sites have made it extremely difficult to stay open.
“Netflix and Amazon Fire Sticks, it’s a different digital age and unfortunately we’re one of the last brick and mortar companies around,” said Martin, and went on to say ” The hardest thing is definitely missing the people. We own the building. We’re looking for a tenant and are trying to move on from there. We’re not sure what’s going to go in here, hopefully it’s something that helps the community, brings some jobs and maybe brings something fun for everyone to do.”
The store will be closing in mid-March.
The two other Silverscreen Video locations in Clearfield and Philipsburg will remain open.
