State College, Pa- WTAJ has a few last minute reminders on some tips to stay safe this Halloween:
-Use the buddy system
-For parents of little trick-or treaters…. keep an eye on them. This is an exciting night for kids, they’re looking forward to stocking up on candy, and may look to run from house to house. Make sure they’re looking both ways and not darting around corners or across the street.
-Drivers should also be aware of kids in dark costumes on the roads and look to drive slower than usual.
WTAJ spoke with Spring Township police who offered some things parents should do as a precaution at the end of the night.
Chief Michael Danneker said, “Go home, sit down with your kid, go through the candy. Make sure it’s packaged the way it should be. Nothing suspicious, if it is…. report it to the police. If it doesn’t look like it’s in good physical shape, you can discard it, but just use common sense.”
