The gingerbread house is a time-old tradition for the holidays, but the Nittany Lion inn takes the tradition a step further.
For 11 years in a row Heather Luse, Executive Pastry Chef for the Penn State Bakery, and her team have made a gingerbread replica of the Nittany Lion Inn hotel.
Luse says it’s become a community favorite this time of year.
“I think it’s just tradition, I mean just like very holiday tradition that you have with your family, you get the same ornaments out every year, Oh we had that out when we were little and all of those kinds of things and I think this has just become one of those things,” Heather Luse, Executive Pastry Chef, for Penn State Bakery, said.
The gingerbread house took 50 pounds of dough, 400 gum drops, four days to make and four men to carry it into the hotel.
The hotel model will be on display at the Nittany Lion Inn until January.
