Alex is the host of Central PA Live! Since a young age Alex has always loved “Show Biz” and looked up to people like David Letterman and Regis Philbin. Needless to say, having his first daily live show is a dream come true for him. Alex moves here from a sister station of ours in Watertown, New York, WWTI.
Alex grew up in Waverly, New York. This small village in the Southern Tier of New York is on the Pennsylvania border. In high school, he was the anchor of the morning and afternoon announcements on a closed-circuit station in the school. He was known for being a class-clown and getting in trouble for small pranks he’d play to make his class laugh. When he reached his junior year, he moved to Brazil to be a Rotary exchange student, learned Portuguese, and returned his senior year to then intern at a local radio station WATS-WAVR, where he was a regular guest on the morning show.
Alex went to Cazenovia College where he now sits on a advisory board for The Communication Studies program that he was enrolled in. While there he did independent studies, interned, and worked for The Brazilian Embassy in Washington, D.C., Rachel Ray Show, Late Show with David Letterman, Bridge Street morning show in Syracuse, and even hosted his own talk-show at the college called The Alex Hazard Show.
After he graduated, he was hired by Late Show with David Letterman as an audience department page. His job, in addition to other things, was mostly to help warm-up and prep the audience while Paul Shaffer and The CBS Orchestra played. He could be seen doing anything from going over rules, to dancing in the aisles of The Ed Sullivan Theater. A few days after he was hired Letterman announced his retirement. Alex stayed there for a while, then remembering his long-term goal of one day being a host himself and decided to freelance until he could find his next step.
Freelancing led him to The Steve Wilkos Show where he worked as a production assistant. It wasn’t long before he left New York City and moved to Watertown for his first on-air gig at WWTI in Watertown. In Watertown, he was their only On-Air personality and their first host to have produced a local-half hour program in over ten years; Made In Northern New York with Alex Hazard. Simultaneously, he was in countless commercials, promotions, and segments including some crowd favorites like “Backseat Driver”, “In Bed with Alex Hazard”, and “Golden Apple”. This job was what led him to Central PA Live where he hosts similar content in a daily, live hour format. Alex looks forward to you tuning in to hear great stories, to learn great DIYs, and share lots of laughs!
