YouTube is banning videos showing dangerous pranks and challenges.
The decivision was prompted by safety concerns, especially challenges that put people’s lives in dangers such as videos produced for the recent “Bird Box Challenge” in which users blind-folded themselves performing tasks including driving.
YouTube implented the change on Tuesday.
The updated guidelines state YouTube won’t allow the uploading of videos that “can cause death and/or have caused death in some instances.”
One example is the “Tide Pod Challenge” in which a person eats laundry detergent packets on camera.
Another exapmple is the fire challenge, which involves setting one’s self on fire using a flammable liquid.
