More than 90 percent of Americans own a cell phone and many people use them to take pictures of their food or make phone calls when they’re dining out. But some restaurants are fed up with the disruptions and are banning them, asking customers not to use them at the table and even rewarding diners who ditch their phones!
It’s a growing trend with different approaches to making it happen. Some have boxes end each table with a knot inside asking their friends to unplug during their meal.
Others are using a champagne bucket with a 20% discount incentive if they make it through their meal without their phones.
Several restaurants took a more strict approach rolling out cell phone policies from limiting photos to instituting full bans.
While many restaurants have benefited from photos being shared of their food, others have seen the flipside.
