A strange find in downtown Valdosta, Georgia, in the wall of a building. But it may not seem so strange when you find out what the building used it for.
Crews are working on renovating a building in downtown Valdosta. They went to knock out a wall and that’s when they found nearly 1,000 human teeth.
Now, some say it’s a unique reason to come check out downtown. Since the teeth were found, staff have been digging into the building’s history.
While there’s no clear explanation, they say it’s been here since about 1900, and was home to dentist offices for several decades.
The city is now embracing the strange find, holding a giveaway on social media for $100 downtown for whoever can guess how many teeth are in the jar.
Valdosta main street will be holding on to some of the teeth until this Friday when the contest will end.
Then, they’ll be donated to the country’s historical society where staff plan to do DNA testing to find out who the teeth belonged to.
