“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett is expected to appear in court on Tuesday in Chicago.
The 36-year-old report to police in January that he had been targeted in a racist and homophobic attack that ended with a noose around his neck.
He was later indicted on 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct after police said he paid two brothers who he knew, to stage the attack.
They were initially detained in the incident but later released without charges.
CNN affiliate WGN-TV reports a judge is expected to decide Tuesday whether cameras will be allowed in court for Smollett’s future appearances.
