Peyton Kennedy, a New Jersey native, joined WTAJ in October 2020 as a multimedia journalist in the State College bureau.
She is a 2020 cum laude graduate of the James Madison University Honors College in Virginia, where she double-majored in Broadcast Journalism & Theatre Performance, and double-minored in Entrepreneurship & Honors Leadership Studies.
While at JMU, Peyton was an anchor & senior reporter for the university’s award-winning, live weekly newscast, Breeze TV. There, she initiated a pop culture segment and live in-studio entertainment. She enjoyed being the campus representative for NBCUniversal, serving as a Student Government Senator, and was a member the Tri Delta sorority.
In the summer of 2019, Peyton studied in Los Angeles and interned in reality television development, documentary film development, and talent management. On weekends, you could catch her as a live studio audience member!
Peyton was recently awarded the Agnes Cook Memorial Scholarship from the Virginia Press Women Foundation and has been named the Alison Parker Memorial Scholar and Lisanby Scholar.
