Updated Wednesday Midday, July 23rd

Reported by Meteorologist Regina Miller

Today will be a more active weather day as more locations will stand a better chance of seeing showers or storms starting to develop, especially in the afternoon as a front starts to move into the region.  Some storms have the may have gusty winds or drenching downpours associated. Temperatures will not get as hot in northwestern zones where rain will move in earlier.  In those locations along and west of the Allegheny ridgeline, temps will be around 80 and it will be progressively warmer the farther east you go ahead of the front where southwesterly winds will push temps into the upper 80s in the deeper valleys.  It will be quite humid as well.  The front will continue to progress southeastward on Wednesday night into Thursday, however it is likely that most of the activity will come to an end from north to south by early tonight.  The front will still be close enough to allow for some lingering clouds into early Thursday.  Since the front will be sitting to our south, the most likely area to still see perhaps just a lingering early shower will be along or south of the Pennsylvania turnpike.  Otherwise, it appears that clouds will break for some sunshine Thursday. It will still be humid early but the humidity will start to lower later in the day. Highs Thursday will range from near 70 to the low to mid 70s along the Route 219 corridor and northwestward.  However farther to the east of Interstate 99 temps will be in the mid to upper 70s with a few locations even getting to near 80. Thursday night will be more comfortable with lows in the 50s.  Grab the sunglasses and enjoy the late week as an area of high pressure will give us a good deal of sunshine Friday with highs in the 70s to near 80 and comfortable humidity.
