Updated Thursday Midday, July 3rd

Reported by Meteorologist Regina Miller

This afternoon a cold front is pushing through the region, bringing with it some scattered showers or storms.  Hazy sunshine will push temperatures in the southeastern valleys into the low 80s.  To the north and west where rain will develop quicker, temps will get into the upper 70s.  There will still be a shower or storm around this evening (especially in areas along or east of I-99).  There is still a slight risk for severe storms, however the most significant severe threat will be to the east of our region in the Susquehanna Valley.  Tonight will become partly cloudy with temps ranging from the low to mid 50s to the west to around 60 in the eastern zones.  Tomorrow will be breezy and noticeably cooler with temperatures in the low to mid 70s.  There will be a mixture of clouds and sun.  . What clouds do develop should evaporate in time for fireworks displays like Summer Thunder at DelGrosso's park in Tipton. You may want to bring a light jacket or sweatshirt along to any of the areas fireworks displays. Temps will fall into the 50s by Saturday morning. In fact, some of the colder valley locations may dip into the 40s.  Saturday will be a very nice day with lots of blue sky and temperatures in the upper 70s to around 80 with low humidity.  A ridge of high pressure will settle over the region and give us plenty of sunshine for the rest of the holiday weekend. Sunday will be in the low 80s with mostly sunny skies.  Nights will be a bit cool for this time of the year. Monday will be a little warmer and more humid with some sunshine. There is a slight chance for a pop up shower or thunderstorm. Tuesday and Wednesday will be warm and humid with a mix of clouds and sunshine. A few spots will have a shower or thunderstorm Tuesday afternoon and even a few more spots on Wednesday. Temperatures each day will reach into the middle 80s and the nights will begin to turn more humid.
