Snowshoe Extends Ski Season

Snowshoe Mountain ( has received close to 30 inches of fresh powder in the last seven days. With so much new snow, the resort announced today that it will plan to open the slopes for an extended celebration weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6. Snowshoe will close temporarily on its original scheduled date, Sunday, March 30. The resort will then re-open for the bonus weekend, Saturday and Sunday, April 5-6.

Snowshoe is also announcing the return of the wildly-popular “Ridiculous Pass Sale” to start on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. With a price starting at just $199, pass holders get unlimited skiing and riding, valid for March of 2014 and all of the 2014-2015 winter ski season, with no blackouts.

“The Ridiculous Pass is the best ski deal out there and it was so incredibly popular last year that we had to bring it back this year,” explains Dave Dekema, marketing director, Snowshoe Mountain. “You get all of March and our extended April ski days, to ski and ride this season plus all of next winter, with no blackout dates, for the price of what you might otherwise spend over a long weekend. It’s too good to pass up—the value is ridiculous.”

The Ridiculous Pass is valid for skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels, affinity and age groups- adults, students, seniors, military, children and teenagers. Children, ages 6 and under, and seniors, ages 75 and over, ski free next season. The sale runs just 11 days, February 18 through February 28. In comparison, the full retail price of an unrestricted 2013/2014 adult season pass at Snowshoe is $449. The $199 sale will only last the first two days of the sale (February 18th and 19th) starting February 20th the price jumps $5 each day.

The resort was originally set to close Sunday, March 30, but officials feel the conditions are prime for epic spring skiing and riding at the Mid-Atlantic’s #1 winter resort.

“For the second winter in a row we’re watching fantastic snow conditions building into March. It has literally snowed every day for a week, with 14 inches in one day alone,” explains Dave Dekema, marketing director, Snowshoe Mountain. “This is a skier’s dream. We are beyond excited to offer our guests extra big thanks for an outstanding winter season.”

In addition to great skiing and riding, the celebration weekend event will include live music, outdoor grills, Village games and activities for families, pool parties and spring prize giveaways.

During the extended weekend, single day lift tickets will be priced at $40 in appreciation of the 40th Anniversary winter season. In addition, Snowshoe will offer a Buy One, Get One FREE lift ticket special. The resort has extended its value season pricing for all lodging options for this additional weekend.
