The Blair County 911 center hosted the SkyWarn training session Tuesday night.
The people learned how they could help the National Weather Service by accurately reporting weather conditions from across the region. Officials say it will keep everyone safer in extreme weather because the meteorologists are interpreting the radar, but they need people to tell them what is happening on the ground.
The National Weather Service generally holds these training sessions in the Spring, but is looking for help year-round.
