Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo
A weak front did help spark off the showers and thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of the rain may be heavy and there could be some strong gusts of wind with any of the thunderstorms. Behind this disturbance we'll have some leftover clouds later tonight. Temperatures will not be as cool as last night but still far from muggy with lows in the lower to middle 50s. Thursday will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine with a warmer afternoon. High temperatures will be in the middle to upper 70s. While a stray shower or thunderstorm can not be ruled out, it looks like this will be the best chance over the next 5 days for the vast majority of the region to be rain free. Friday will be a little warmer and more humid with clouds and sunshine and the chance for an afternoon shower or thunderstorm. The mercury will rebound back to near 80. The combination of an easterly component to the wind and an approaching disturbance will give us more clouds along with scattered showers and perhaps a thunderstorm Saturday. While temperatures will not rise higher than the 70s, it will be muggier than recent days. Sunday will be warm and humid with clouds and sunshine. There will be a couple of showers and thunderstorms around, but it will not rain most of the time and some spots will be missed. The beginning of next week will be warm and humid with a mix of clouds and hazy sunshine. A pop up shower or thunderstorm is possible both Monday and Tuesday afternoons with high temperatures reaching into the 80s in many locations. There will be a little better chance for a shower or thunderstorm Wednesday but it will stay warm and humid. In fact, a typical summer-like pattern will be with us through the end of next week.
