Reported by: Chief Meteorologist Joe Murgo
We had another autumnlike day today with morning sunshine mixing with some instability clouds during the afternoon. Temperatures this morning started in the 40s to the lower 50s and then peaked only in the upper 60s to lower 70s this afternoon. What clouds did form will evaporate away fast this evening. High pressure sitting over the region will give us a clear sky and light winds tonight. This combined with a dry air mass will set the stage for another cool night with lows in the 40s to the lower 50s. Any patches of fog should be isolated and will evaporate away quickly early Friday morning. This high pressure system will start to drift off to the east on Friday which will allow for more humid air to return to the region. Friday will still be fairly comfortable with a mix of clouds and sunshine and only a slight chance for a late-day shower or thunderstorm later in the day, especially through the Laurel Highlands. Friday night will not be as cool as recent nights but still won't be too muggy with lows in the 50s. An easterly flow from the Atlantic ocean clashing with the return of humid air will set the stage for more clouds than sunshine on Saturday. Some showers and perhaps thunderstorms will be around, but in this set up, the bulk of the rainfall may be more concentrated west of I-99. We'll have a better feel on this during the day on Friday. These clouds may keep temperatures from rising higher than the lower 70s in most spots with some locations being stuck in the 60s. Sunday will be a little warmer and more humid with clouds and sunshine. There will be a couple of showers and thunderstorms scattered around, especially during the afternoon. Next week looks warm and humid. Each day Monday through Thursday will feature a mix of clouds and hazy sunshine. With the warm and humidity a couple of pop up showers or thunderstorms are possible each afternoon and evening. Not every place will get rainfall each day, but with the higher humidity, any place that gets hit could have heavier downpours. Highs each day will be in the lower to middle 80s with muggy lows in the 60s.
