Family of Missing Woman Asks for Help

The Sister and Brother-In -Law of Joey Lynn Offutt say they are at wit's end trying to find out what has happened to their relative. That's why they traveled from Northern Virginia to this region to talk about the case. The family members say their last contact with 33 year old Joey Offutt was the weekend before fire ripped through her Jefferson County home. The mystery surrounding the disappearance of the Woman deepened because the body of an infant was discovered in the ruins of the burned out home in Sykesville. Family members say the body was that of Offutt's six week old son while state police contend the body has not been positively identified . Offutt's relatives say they understand police are still investigating this missing person case. But the lack of progress made public has these family members now pleading for help. The last public developments in this case was when Offutt's car was discovered days after the fire near a State College apartment complex where Offutt used to live. Her relatives are hoping that anyone who knows anything about Offutt's disappearance will come forward. Offutt's disappearance is all the more troubling because she left behind two other children, nine and two years old. Both of those daughters are currently being cared for by relatives. And family members are still asking a lot of questions. State Troopers out of Dubois say they are still actively working this case and waiting for results to come back from state crime labs. They would welcome information from the public that could help them solve this missing person and infant death case.
