World War II Veterans Ignore Memorial Barricades

The government shutdown wasn't going to stop veterans from seeing the World War II Memorial.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The government shut down late Monday night prompted the closure of all national parks in memorials, but it did not stop a group of veterans Tuesday.

A tour was set for a group of World War II veterans Tuesday at the World War II memorial in D.C., and despite barricades put up to stop them the veterans walked to the memorial.

A spokeswoman from the Park Service said they are no longer trying to hold anyone back from the memorial. Security officers are also onsite.
