Walk For Heart Disease And Stroke

Hundreds take in event.
STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - Hundreds came together and took a little walk in State College Sunday to raise some money for heart disease and stroke awareness.

The 2013 Centre County Heart and Stroke Walk's goal this year was to raise $65,000 for the cause. The event featured a number of vendors, plus free blood pressure screenings and plenty activities for the kids. Michelle Homman's daughter was born with a heart defect, and she says she wouldn't be hear if it wasn't for these types of events.

"It's overwhelming to see the community to pull together as someone that’s been effected I’m very grateful because she wouldn't be here otherwise," Homman says.

More than 400 people took part in the walk. Participants also had a chance this year to purchase torches to donate in honor of a loved one effected by heart disease or stroke.
