There are similar bills in the State House and Senate right now the local fire fighter's union says are unfair to them.
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - There are similar bills in the State House and Senate right now the local fire fighter's union says are unfair to them.

The president of the union representing the Altoona Fire Fighters is warning these bills could affect the rights of everyone that pays union dues. Bryson Peterman says House Bill 1507 and Senate Bill 1034 will affect their payroll reductions and hurt their bargaining power when negotiating with municipalities they represent. And he says this will affect any union has contracts with a municipalities like construction workers, teachers, as well as emergency workers like them.

Fire fighters are exempted in the Senate Bill, but he says they're standing in solidarity with all the other unions who would not get an exemption.

And he's calling on people to contact Representatives Jerry Stern, John McGinnis, and Senator John Eichelberger.
