JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Johnstown Police continue their search an accused killer after a 27-year old was shot and killed.
“We continue to follow up on leads,” said Police Chief Craig Foust.
Jareek Adams was shot and killed Saturday night; a second unidentified person was also shot and taken to Memorial Medical. The shooting happened outside of Building 36 on Wagner Street.
“From what we were told they walked passed each other and shortly after is when the shooting occurred,” said Foust.
This is the first homicide of the year in the county, but not the first to take place in the Oakhurst Homes neighborhood. Neighbors said they are fed up and had enough.
“It is frustrating because I have a child, who I care for… I don’t want anything to happen to him or my neighbors,” said Larissa Guadette.
Guadette has lived in the Oakhurst neighborhood since 2012. She said not everyone who lives there is involved in the violence.
“I am a single mom, it’s why I live here because it is what I can afford,” said Guadette. “The people that are bringing the drugs in here – they are the ones causing the violence giving this place a bad name.”
Anyone with information or saw something that night is urged to call police 1-800-281-1680.
Guadette said it’s sad to see people result to gun use to work out their problems.
"Guns are not the answer for everything- you want to fight go out in the road and punch someone guns shouldn't be answer for everything."
