The Great Insect Fair Celebrates 20 Years

If bugs don’t bug you, and critters don’t creep you out…State College is the place to be this weekend, because the “Great Insect Fair” is coming to campus!

That’s because the “Great Insect Fair” is coming to campus!
 
Becky Heinig, a Ph.D. Student in Entomology at Penn State stopped by with all the details.
 
This is the 20th year for the fair, and they have really outdone themselves this year.
 
Here’s a list of activities you can expect to find!
  - Build-A-Bug Contest: Bring your homemade insect for judging and prizes
  - Moth & Butterfly Tent
  - IPM/Pesticide Safety Putt Putt
  - Cockroach Races!
  - Honey Tasting
  - Bee Observation Hives
  - What Is in a Beehive?
  - The Insect Deli
  - Insect Zoo: Live exhibits of many insects!
  - Bug Collectors and Collections
  - The BugMobile Talking Car
  - The Bug Doctor Is In! Ask your pest questions
  - The Insect Construction Co.: Arts and crafts
  - Face Painting and Games
  - Vendors selling a variety of insect arts and crafts, books, and T-shirts
 
If you’re really adventurous, stop by the Insect Deli, for your chance to sample some daring dishes!  In year’s past, the Insect Deli has served up Wax Moth Larvae on Baba Ganoush, Potato and Rosemary Frittata with Meal Worms, Chocolate-covered Crickets, Viatnamese Eggrolls with Mel Worms, Barbecued Vegetables with Wax Moth Larvae, and Meal Worm Roll-ups.

Cost: FREE! But donations will be accepted.
