Take A Cab We'll Pay The Tab

No Fatal DUI Accidents in Blair County Since the Program Started
HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY- It's just around the corner, New Year's Eve. Many will be toasting the night with an alcoholic beverage, but police officers are warning not to get behind the wheel. Instead you can take advantage of a program called Take A Cab, We'll Pay the Tab. Since it began over a decade ago, hundreds of drivers have been safely driven home and not one single fatality has occurred in Blair County during New Year's Eve celebrations.

Law enforcers, agencies and businesses came together with the same focus- to provide a safe alternative to motorists who will be drinking alcohol on New Year's Eve. Officers say the number of DUI's show that people continue to make poor decisions, but a program called Operation Safe Holiday has helped. Officials say in Blair County there has been no fatal DUI accidents in Blair County since the program started.

Instead of getting behind the wheel, there's also another option- Take A Cab, We'll Pay the Tab. It's a free cab ride and your vehicle will be towed home free of charge. All Blair County residents can call 947-6805 when they are ready to go home for the night on New Year's Eve from 9pm-2am.

If you don't hail a taxi, police say make sure you have a designated driver, because officers will be out in full force looking for impaired and aggressive drivers throughout the holiday season.

WTAJ is a proud sponsor of the program.
