Steelers Take the Field for 1st Practice of Camp

Things got off to a rough start.  First it was real hot, and then a nasty thunderstorm forced the players off the field and cut practice short.
LATROBE, WESTMORELAND COUNTY - The Steelers officially kicked off the countdown to the 2011 season opener Friday afternoon, hitting the field at St. Vincent College for the team's first practice of training camp.

Things got off to a rough start.  First it was real hot, and then a nasty thunderstorm forced the players off the field and cut practice short.

Afterwards, Linebacker James Harrison and receiver Hines Ward answered questions about off the field distractions and then the Steelers got back to work.

One notable absence was offensive tackle Flozell Adams, who was waived Friday morning to free up $5 million in salary cap space. In other contract news, 2011 first round draft pick Cameron Heyward and third round pick Curtis Brown signed deals with the Black and Gold.
