(CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Other Steelers players stepped up besides the starters in a 33-17 win over the Carolina Panthers on Thursday night. The final preseason game mainly serves as a final audition for the players trying to make the 53-man roster and those fighting for postition on the depth chart, and some of them made a splash versus the Panthers.

Charlie Batch started in place of Ben Roethlisberger but is still battling Dennis Dixon for the second quarterback spot. Batch finished 6 of 8 for 59 yards and led an 80-yard touchdown drive while playing roughly one quarter.  Jonathan Dwyer scored on a 50-yard touchdown run while rookie tight end, Weslye Saunders out of South Carolina, caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Dixon who finished 11 of 22 for 157 yards and one touchdown. Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders returned to game action with four catches for 60 yards.
