JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Emergency responders said when the snow melts and it rains there is always a chance for flooding, that’s why it’s important to be prepared.
‘This time of year, you can almost predict there will be some flooding, especially with melting snow and rain,” said Tom Horner, Johnstown Assistant Fire Chief.
Horner said the department is always monitoring Mother Nature and the affects it could have on the city. His concern is when people drive through flooded roadways.
“I can’t stress enough how unsafe that is,” said Horner. ‘It doesn’t take a lot of water to move a car.”
Horner recommends keeping an emergency kit easily accessible in your home and when there is chance of flooding he said to make sure your drains area clear.
‘It’s important to make sure drains are clear of debris, so water can get through,” said Horner.
