Sperm Donor Ordered to Pay Child Support

Sperm Donor Ordered to Pay Child Support

He donated to help a couple conceive a child, now he's being told to pay up.
TOPEKA, KANSAS - A man who donated his sperm to help another couple conceive is being ordered to pay child support.

William Marotta responded to a Craigslist ad in 2009 for a lesbian couple seeking a sperm donor.

There was no money involved, and he signed a contract waiving his parental rights.

The couple split up.

When one of them applied for welfare, the state of Kansas went after Marotta for child support.

The state claims the contract he signed is null and void because a doctor was not involved in the sperm donation.

A judge ruled in the state's favor on Wednesday.

Kansas wants $4000 dollars from him.
