Johnstown Police charged Jonathan Kuzma with brutally killing his father Friday night.
JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Johnstown Police charged Jonathan Kuzma with brutally killing his father Friday night.

It happened at home on Bond Street in the city’s Moxham neighborhood.  Police found the victim 52-year old John Kuzma inside. 

“It is a tragic event,” said Police Captain Andy Frear.  “It is devastating for the entire family.”

Kuzma allegedly beat his father with a hammer, and then stabbed him in the neck.  After the attack police said the 31-year old broke into his father’s safe stole money, medicine and a gun.  He then took his father’s car and drove around in search of heroin.

“After the homicide was committed he went in search of more drugs,” said Frear.

Frear said police have been called to the home in the past due to domestic situations.  Kuzma is in the Cambria County Jail, he was taken into custody at his brother’s house in Ferndale.  According to a criminal complaint Kuzma admitted to family and police he killed his father.
