Hollidaysburg � PennDOT District 9 today announced that work will begin on the Shaffers Run Bridges rehabilitation project. This project is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
Starting on Wednesday, June 23, IA Construction Corporation, of Zelienople, Butler County will begin work on the first of three bridges that carry state route 2021 (Shaffers Run Road) over Shaffers Run in Fairhope Township, Somerset County. Two bridges will be replaced and one bridge will have a total deck replacement.
Traffic will be detoured using Route 2019 (Glen Savage Road) and Route 2021 (Shaffers Road). The detour will be in effect until Dec. 2010.
The $2.3 million project includes work on the three Route 2021 bridges and two bridges on Route 2019 (Fairhope Road). The bridge work along Route 2019 will take place later this summer. All of the bridges are over Shaffers Run.
Within District 9, PennDOT is investing approximately $47 million of federal economic recovery funds on 21 transportation projects, which include road and bridge improvements and signal upgrades.
