SFU's Brown Earns NEC Player of the Week

Junior forward averaged 15.0 PPG, and 16.5 RPG.
LORETTO, CAMBRIA COUNTY - Saint Francis U's Earl Brown (Philadelphia, Pa./Imhotep Charter) emerged last season as one of the Northeast Conference's elite rebounders and night-in and night-out double-double threats.  The junior forward was back at it last week after registering a pair of double-doubles in a Saint Francis U split.  As a result, Brown picked up his second career Choice Hotels/NEC Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Brown averaged 15.0 points, 16 .5 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 2.0 steals while shooting 51.9 percent from the floor.  In a 57-50 setback to Patriot League power Lehigh on Wednesday, the Philly native posted 16 points, 14 boards and a pair of steals, all team-highs.

Three days later he led the Red Flash to their first road win of the year with 14 points, 19 rebounds, two blocks and two steals as SFU pulled away late for a 72-62 conquest of Cornell.

The 19 caroms represented an NEC single-game season-high and were the fifth-most in the nation this season.  Brown is the only player in the NEC averaging a double-double this season with 11.6 ppg and a league-best 10.0 rpg.  He also leads the circuit with three double-doubles and ranks eighth in field goal accuracy at 49.5 percent.
