SFU Women's Soccer Players Earn All-Region Honors

Senior Tesa McKibben earns 1st team honors, McNiff is a second team selection.
LORETTO, CAMBRIA COUNTY - For the fourth straight year Saint Francis U women's soccer is well-represented at the regional awards level.

Seniors Tesa McKibben (Cogan Station, Pa./Montoursville) and Alecia McNiff (Marietta, Pa./Donegal ) have been named to 2013 NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's All-Northeast Region teams.  Announced on Wednesday morning, the list shows McKibben earning a spot on the first team, while McNiff secures a place on the second team.

Every year since 2010, the Red Flash has placed at least two student-athletes to postseason NSCAA All-Region teams.  SFU won its third consecutive Northeast Conference Regular Season title and its second NEC Tournament title in 2013.  The Flash also earned its second berth in the NCAA Women's College Cup Tournament this season.

Now a four-time All-Region selection, McKibben became the first four-time Division I conference player of the year in NCAA women's soccer history in November.  She leads the nation in career points with 177 and ranks near the top of the list in career goals with 69 and assists with 39.  She is a four-time NEC Golden Boot winner, an 18-time NEC Player of the Week selection and was named to the watch list for the MAC Hermann Trophy, which is the highest individual award in collegiate soccer.

A captain on the 2013 squad, McNiff will go down as one of the finest defenders in Northeast Conference and program history.  A four-time All-NEC selection, she has now picked up three NSCAA All-Region plaudits in addition to being named NSCAA College Scholar All-America in 2012.  During her time in Loretto, she has played a major part in 34 shutouts.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America will announce All-America selections on Friday.
