Senate leaders announce deal.
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senate leaders announce they have reached deal to end government shutdown and avoid possible debt default.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell made the announcement around 12:15 Wednesday on the Senate floor.

With hours left for Congress to finalize and pass legislation before the United States' borrowing authority expires, Senate leaders formally unveiled the plan that will fund the government through January 15 and lift the debt limit through February 7.
