Salvation Army Fundraiser Problems

The Salvation Army is dealing with some fundraiser problems.
ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - The Salvation Army is dealing with some fundraiser problems.

Someone came to them and offered to help them raise some money, but it turns out that fundraiser was illegal. They had planned to auction off a Chihuahua puppy. But Saturday morning State Police called and told Salvation Army officials that auctioning off a dog is illegal. So the captain cancelled the event right away.

Even without this fundraiser the Salvation Army of Altoona has been struggling this year. They had hoped their kettle drive would bring in about a $106,000 during the season. But now they're only about halfway there. And if they don't get closer to their goal, they might have to cut some of their charity programs.

Captain Morrison says they would love a big benefactor, but they also appreciate every dollar and dime in their Red Kettles.
