CLEARFIELD - Work has begun on Route 26 in Centre County near the Huntingdon County line for the construction of a truck pull-off and truck escape ramp.

Work includes construction of a gravel arrestor bed, lighting, guide rail, drainage and paving.

As work progresses closer to the roadway, traffic will be controlled by flaggers and limited to one lane during working hours.  Traffic delays are likely.

Motorists should be alert for roadway flaggers and slowed or stopped traffic. PennDOT will issue work updates as necessary.

Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the contractor on this $1.4 million project. All work is weather dependent.  Work is expected to be completed in November 2010.

PennDOT reminds motorists they can log on to 511pa.com or call 511 from any phone to check traffic conditions before heading out.
