Reports: PSU To Start Freshman Hackenberg at QB Saturday

Nittany Lions take on Syracuse in the season opener Saturday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - Apparently we won't have to wait until kick-off to find who Penn State's starting quarterback will be on Saturday.

According to multiple reports, the Nittany Lions will be going with true freshman Christian Hackenberg as their starting signal caller against Syracuse.

A Penn State team spokesman declined comment to WTAJ Sports on Friday afternoon.

Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien had said earlier in the week that "you'll find out who the (starting) quarterback is on the first play of the game against Syracuse."

O'Brien has also said that despite who starts, both guys will see time on Saturday.

Kickoff between Penn State and Syracuse at MetLife Stadium is at 3:30 PM on Saturday.
