Redistricting Pits Democrats Critz Against Altmire for Congressional Seat

One of the Congressmen most affected by redistricting talks with WTAJ.
JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY - One of the Congressmen most affected by redistricting talks with WTAJ.

Governor Tom Corbett signed a bill that sets new boundaries for congressional districts. The biggest change will pit two incumbent democrats against each other for a seat. Congressman Mark Critz will now have to face Jason Altmire. Both men are Democrats serving in the House of Representatives. And Critz is determined to win the race and continue representing Cambria and Somerset Counties.

The state had to re-draw district lines after loosing population in the most recent census. It cost the state a House seat dropping down from 19 Reps to 18.
Governor Corbett signed it into law Thursday.

Senator John Wozniak's district changed a little bit. He says the Democrats will just have to deal with this and be more competitive. And Critz says he is already working on meeting the people in his new district, but he is happy he is holding on to Cambria and Somerset Counties.

On another note, half of Somerset and all of Huntingdon County will be cut from Republican Bill Shuster's 9th District.
