PSU Defenseman, Yanis Suspended by Big Ten

Yanis was given a 5 minute major, plus a game misconduct for a check from behind against Michigan State Saturday.
STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - The Big Ten has slapped Penn State defenseman, Mark Yanis with a 1 game suspension for an illegal hit during Saturday's loss at Michigan State.

Here was the conference's statement regarding suspension:

The Big Ten Conference office announced today that Penn State hockey student-athlete Mark Yanis has been suspended for one game, under the conference’s supplemental discipline process, as a result of an incident that occurred in a game against Michigan State on January 18.

The action was taken by the conference after a review of an incident that occurred near the 14:37 mark of the third period and resulted in the player receiving a major penalty for hitting from behind and a game misconduct. Yanis is ineligible to play in Penn State’s January 25 game against Boston College.

The Big Ten Conference considers this matter concluded and will have no further comment.

Penn State hosts #2 Boston College this Saturday night.
