The Mount Union cluster of United Methodist Churches is hosting a "potato drop" at the Mount Airport / aka Shirleysburg Airport this weekend. Approximately 45,000 pounds of potatoes will be brought in by a tractor trailer. The potatoes will be dropped and that's where you come in! Bring your organization, family, and/or yourself to participate in this event. Volunteers are needed to bag the potatoes for local food banks and those in need.

Additional Details (from the event website): "The Society of St. Andrew's (http://www.endhunger.org/), has a ministry that feeds the hungry through gleaning produce that is perfectly healthy and nutritious, but not selected for commercial use. The Society of St. Andrews' truck will arrive in Shirleysburg at approximately 7 a.m. on Saturday, October 19. There will be many volunteers anticipating the opportunity to bag potatoes and distribute them to local agencies. It is our plan that the potatoes are given to individuals and organizations (that distribute food without cost to individuals). There are no income guidelines to receive potatoes. We simply want to provide for those who can benefit from this food subsidy."
