Portage Preps for Rivalry

Mustangs ride win streak into showdown with Windber.
PORTAGE, CAMBRIA COUNTY - The Portage Mustangs ride a three game winning streak into their homecoming rivalry with Windber.

Part of Portage's success thus far has been an improved passing game.

But Gary Gouse's Mustangs are still very much a run-first team, led by junior Caleb Kephart, who paces the team in yards and touchdowns.

“Caleb's probably the most humble person on the team,” Gouse says. “He really doesn't look at his stats or what he does. He's the first one if someone scores he's right there to celebrate with them. So he's not selfish at all. I think that's a reflection of how everybody feels on this team. It really doesn't matter who scores or who runs the ball.”

Both Portage and Windber average more than 30 points of offense per game entering the rivalry.
