Penn State Exceeds Research Expenditure Record

PENN STATE, UNIVERSITY PARK - Penn State has outdone themselves, setting a record for research expenditures.

The university climbed to a record-high $848 million for the 2012-2013 fiscal year, up five percent over the previous year.

That total includes more than $530 million in federal fees.

University officials say these numbers show a steady growth in Penn State research over the last 10 years. They say research is a significant economic driver for the state as well.

Penn State's total research expenditures have risen by over $240 million in the past 10 years, showing a 40 percent increase.
