Paterno Children Speak Out

Two of Joe Paterno's Children appeared on CBS This Morning to talk about the last couple of days. They tried to keep their focus was on what they believe the legacy of their father will be.

STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - As members of the Penn State community were preparing to line up to say good bye to their long time football coach, two of Joe Paterno's Children appeared on CBS This Morning to talk about the last couple of days.

Jay Paterno and Mary Kay Paterno-Hort appeared on the network news broadcast from State College.  They tried to keep their focus was on what they believe the legacy of their father will be.   Both of the Paterno Children said they believe the key to their father' legacy will be his five children and seventeen grandchildren.

They also reflected on what they believe to be the key lessons their father taught them and many of his foot ball players during is long and successful coaching career at Penn State.

While the issue of their father's recent dismissal by the Penn State Board of Trustees did come up during the interview, Jay Paterno responded that the next couple of days should be about honoring   the legacy and contributions of Joe Paterno. 

Both his son and daughter went on to talk about recent family gatherings and how the events of the last couple of days have played out for the family.  They made it clear they hope the next couple of days will be all about celebrating their father's family, legacy and accomplishments.
